Chile’s LATAM Airlines orders five A321neo(XLR)s

LATAM Airlines Group have ordered five A321-200NY(XLR)s from the landlord Air Lease Corporation with deliveries tentatively scheduled to start in the fall of 2025 and continue through 2026. The announcement comes after the South American carrier possession ordered seventeen A321-200Ns in 2022 Farnborough International Air Show in July.
LATAM did not disclose on which of its AOC – LATAM airlines, LATAM Airlines Brazil, LATAM Airlines Colombia, LATAM Airlines Ecuadoror LATAM Airlines Peru – it will assign the five aircraft. It is its first commitment to any extended-range narrowbody type. Nine airlines critical of the Avianca-GOL-Viva merger

Nine airlines and a union have asked Colombia’s civil aviation authority (Unidad Administrativa Especial de Aeronáutica Civil – Aerocivil) to be included as “interested third parties” in the process that could lead to Avianca Airlines, Alive (Colombia), Viva Air Peru, GOL Intelligent Airlinesand SKY Airline (Chile) under the umbrella unit Abra Group. Their requests indicate their opposition to integration, the Bloomberg Línea news agency reported.
EasyFly (Colombia), Satin, Ultra Air, Wingo (Colombia), Argentinian airlines, LATAM airlines, JetSMART, Air Europaand Lufthansa has asked to participate in the ongoing review of the proposed group, an investigation that will ultimately determine whether it is accepted or rejected. Avianca’s union (Organización de Aviadores de Avianca – ODEAA), which represents nearly half of Avianca’s pilots, has also submitted a request to participate.
